My name is Berkley Harris. My home base is in Arizona, but I moved to Senegal,West Africa in August 2017 for a year of living and learning in a completely new context. I am working and living in Senegal with the support of the Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Although funded by the church, my time in Senegal is not devoted to traditional missionary work. My purpose is to build relationships and grow as a global citizen in our interconnected world. I am serving in Yeumbeul, a fast-moving suburb of Dakar (the capital city of Senegal) with Senegalese Lutheran Development Services (SLDS). This blog is used to share my experiences and reflections throughout my year as I integrate into a new culture and my worldview expands.
